  • Deductible

    The amount the patient must pay before the insurance plan begins covering certain services.

  • Copay

    A fixed amount the patient pays, for example, $10 per visit.

  • Coinsurance

    A percentage of the cost the patient is responsible for paying, such as 10% or 20%.

  • Out-of-pocket maximum

    The maximum amount the member pays during the year for covered services. Once this maximum is reached, the insurance plan generally covers 100% of covered in-network services for the remainder of the year.
